Book Melody to Speak at your Next Event

My18 years of private practice has taught me that nobody has figured out how to help people understand ourselves and why we react to each other the way we do.  People in my practice come to me when they have lost all hope of figuring it out for themselves. My parents didn’t have a clue how to relate with each other either, they were no models for me. I am happily married now, but I’ve been divorced twice. Luckily, I have figured out some important things about how and why we relate with others and ourselves the way we do.  And as a result, all 5 of my kids are happy and “well adjusted” and my marriage is thriving.

Audiences describe me as: energetic, fun, playful, effervescent, a trailblazer and creative.

The audience will learn:

Ethics: What is the Right Use of Power?

Keynote (30 - 45 minutes) CEU

Right Use of Power is one of the most crucial needs of our time and one of the greatest challenges we face in leadership and in personal development. We have the capacity for wisdom, skillfulness, and service in our use of power. Yet we have all been wounded by misuses and abuses of power by those in positions of trust, and we have also inevitably misused or under-used our power. In this address, Melody provides an honest look at how we all have misused or at least, misunderstood power in our lives and our work. With humour and vulnerability , Melody allows audiences an opportunity to change their relationship with power by understanding:

Raising Compassionate Kids

Keynote (30 - 45 minutes) CEU

In a world where kids are disconnecting from each other through violent games and television, we have to find a way to inject them with a sense of compassion. Using her model for understanding how our brains work and the roles we get stuck in, Melody teaches how to engage our children in commpassionate connection by:

Oh, Wow! This Changes Everything!

Workshop (1½ to 2 hours) CEU

Have you ever found yourself locked into a power struggle with someone and felt yourself or them losing it? This workshop leads us to understand how these struggles happen- in both our personal and professional lives - and provides a way out. Human behavior is easily understood when viewed from the perspective of the Cycles of the Heart. Your managers learn why employees react as they do to interventions and how to ease the employee’s acceptance of information. Employees learn how to accept information from a different perspective and reduce reactivity. Participants learn to:

The Right Use of Power: The heart of ethics

Workshop (1½ to 2 hours) CEU

Power is simply the ability to have an affect, or to have influence, but the right use of this influence is profound and complex. Right use of power in positions of trust, far from being an automatic result of good intentions, must be learned and practiced. Using proven experiential methods for learning, this program develops a deep understanding of power and how it relates to ourselves, and our professional relationships. This workshop provides an arsenal for avoiding complaints and grievances. Through practical exercises, participants:

Creating a Culture of Playful Connections

Workshop (1½ to 2 hours) CEU

Now that we are all grown up most of us think that play is reserved for children. Even if we are wise enough to understand that play is a good thing, most of us have no clue how to go about it. InterPlay teaches the language and ethic of play in its deepest and most powerful sense. Through a step-by-step process participants open themselves to discovering connections to themselves and to others. If your employees struggle with anxiety over presenting, InterPlay is a fun way to relax into being in front of others and develop the confidence to present. If your team is struggling to connect and find mutuality, InterPlay overcomes the boundaries to connection.
